Why do I need scaffolding?

 

A main reason to use scaffolding is access. In some cases, it will be virtually impossible for builders and tradesmen to access parts of a job without a scaffold, such as roofs and high ceilings. Fragile roofs and conservatories can also make it difficult for a builders and tradesmen to access parts of the building so this may need a beam-scaffold to span over these areas, to create access for them. The builders and tradesmen will need to often get materials such as tools, bricks, blocks, cement, and roof tiles from one level to another. A rope and wheel pulley systems can be fixed to the scaffold, making it much easier to manoeuvre tools and materials up and down.

 

Time

Many of the builders and tradesmen we work with also request scaffolding in order to be able to fulfil contracts within a quicker timeframe.

How much is scaffolding?

 

We have broken down the 4 key factors which effect the cost of scaffolding.

 

Size

The size of the scaffold for obvious reasons will play a large part in how much a scaffold cost. The bigger the structure the more time, materials, and men it will take to erect the scaffold. Typically, the higher the scaffold is the longer it will take to erect as the scaffolders will need to hoist the materials up using the most appropriate and safe methods.

Purpose

The purpose of which the scaffolding is erected will play a key role in how much the scaffolding costs. For example, a light duty scaffold erected for a man to mastic windows or change guttering will require a lot less material than a loading bay that is erected to hold multiple tonnes of weight. Some structures may need heavy duty materials such as ladder beams to be used. These more technical structures will require more materials and take more time to erect that will also affect the price of the scaffolding.

 

Access

Access to the place where the scaffold needs to be erected will play a role in how much the scaffolding costs. If the scaffolders cannot park their lorry close to the job for any reason this will slow down the process of erecting the scaffolding. Parking restrictions, unsuitable ground and alleyways are some examples of poor access. Terrace houses without back alleyways can make it hard to get materials into position for scaffolding to be erected. Walls and fences can also impact on the time in which the scaffolding can be erected in. All these factors need to be taken into consideration when pricing a scaffold.

 

Time

How long the scaffolding will be needed will pay a key role in the price of the scaffolding. Scaffold time scales vary greatly and range from one day to several years depending on the work that needs to be carried out.

 

 

How long can I keep the scaffolding?

 

When one of our team comes to visit your project, they will go through what needs to be done and calculate the time of which you will need the scaffolding. We are very flexible to our clients’ needs and aim to offer a lowest cost possible hire plan. We offer a free hire period on all our scaffolds, set out in our initial terms and based on each clients requirements.

 

Do you cover my area?

Do you do small scaffolds?

 

We often get asked if we do small domestic scaffolds or just large sites. The answer is yes, we take on any size scaffolding large or small and treat every project with the same professionalism.
